Formerly one of the country’s largest garment districts and an enclave for Caribbean immigrants, Wynwood has evolved into an ever-expanding arts destination without abandoning its roots. Walk among reimagined warehouses and experience the neighborhood's mural-covered streets, indie boutiques, buzzing restaurants and art galleries.

EAT

Wynwood’s alluring dining scene offers everything from casual food trucks to classy lounge-style restaurants. Try:

- Zak the Baker: Start your day with coffee and hearty breakfast options like custardy French toast or a breakfast sandwich from this popular bakery that earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand award.

- Smorgasburg Miami: This local outpost of Brooklyn’s all-day market runs every weekend in Wynwood with around 60 vendors serving everything from freshly shucked oysters to authentic tacos and some of the city’s tastiest doughnuts.

- Beaker & Gray: This dinner hot spot features craft cocktails and family-style dishes, including spicy shrimp salad and smoked rib fried rice. In a hurry? Come happy hour, the restaurant’s moody bar area offers quick and tasty bites.

SEE

With hidden galleries inside converted warehouses and some of the country’s most famous murals, Wynwood is a creative hub that appeals to those who want a break from the city’s glitz. Experience:

- Wynwood Walls: Explore the labyrinth of murals that originally put this district on the map. More than 100 artists from over 20 countries have been featured since this open-air gallery opened in 2009. Tickets for the outdoor museum can be purchased online or at the door.

- A buggy tour: Hop on a golf cart and let an expert show you around the area’s murals and graffiti for a behind-the-scenes look at Wynwood’s unique art and history. Opt for a premium tour to have a working artist take you on a customized journey.

- The Museum of Graffiti: Continue your art-themed journey with a stop at Wynwood’s only art museum, which is dedicated to graffiti and the history of the global art movement. Pop in on a Saturday evening for the “Spray It Loud” beginners graffiti class.
